To City Power Johannesburg and JHB Water.

We the residents of ward 66 and ward 118 are suffering due to constant water outages. No matter what happens between Joburg water and rand water, we are always the first ones to run out of water and the last to get water.

We are serviced by three 3 reservoirs in our area:

    • Yeovile reservoir

    • Berea reservoir

    • Alexander Park reservoir

The Alexander Park reservoir gets closed every night and reopened early morning and those incidents have been ongoing since the original water crisis first started to affect us. The Berea reservoir is the most unpredictable. It runs sow low, that it takes weeks before it stabilizes again. The Yeoville reservoir seems to be more stable.

We the residents feel that we are not getting proper information conducive to a crisis. We feel that J water treats these outages and crises as a day to day, normal event. Joburg water officials do not seem to understand that thousand of residents living under the breadline level, are suffering. Elderly residents that are pensioners and living alone, are also suffering.
Joburg water has not put together a crisis committee to deal with a water disaster.

Therefore, we that residents of ward 66 and 118 humbly demand:

    1. That our rights to water safety and dignity gets restored.

    2. That officials of Johannesburg water put together a disaster management team to deal with the water crisis and water safety.

    3. That the Johannesburg officials release updates and feedback per reservoir levels and status daily, 2 times per day. A morning and evening update and feedback per reservoir levels and status.

    4. That Joburg water provides us residents of these wards with turnaround times.

    5. That water distribution is done in a fair manner.

    6. That JOJO tanks are placed in key areas whenever the water crisis affects us.

    7. That Joburg water minimizes water breakdowns.

    8. That enough water tankers get distributed to service all the affected streets in these 2 wards.

    9. That Joburg water responds to repairing leaks within a 24 hour turnaround time, whenever reported in ward 66 and ward 118.
