Petition for road calming measures in St Georges street

St Georges street is a street that starts in Yeoville and ends at Cyrildene. It runs side by side with the Observatory golf course. From Innes road, all the way to DA Gama street, this street has no stop streets or cross roads at all and has steep hills traveling from both directions. On the opposite side of the golf course, it has very steep driveways getting onto this road.

This road is also being used as a short cut from the inner city to Cyrildene and is a very quiet road. However because of the fact that this is a quiet road, motorists are traveling on this particular road at very high speeds, therefore endangering any resident that tries to get onto the road from their driveways.

As this road is not a main thoroughfare, traffic calming measures would not impact negatively on motorists or residents using this road.
Due to all the reasons mentioned above, we the residents of Observatory, hereby petition the City Council of Johannesburg, for the implementation of road calming measures in St Georges street.
