Drinking in public & public urinating/indecent exposure Petition

    We the citizens of Johannesburg for too long, have been subjected to daily sights of unruly alcohol consumption on the streets, pavements and public open spaces.

    We are also subjected to constant openly public urinating and sometimes defecating and indecent exposure on the pavements, by the same unruly alcohol consuming individuals.

    These incidents are happening near schools in front of our children, also in front of our residences, and it can no longer be tolerated.

    We as citizens of South Africa have the constitutional right to protect our women and children from this kind of behavior.
    The no care attitude, reluctance and refusal from the South African Police services and metro police to deal with this community’s outcry, has forced us, The SA Citizens, to take certain measures.

    We hereby petition the city of Johannesburg and the South African police services, to uphold the laws of the land as per ( CHAPTER 9 OFFENCES AND PENALTIES (secs 127-138 )
    Paragraph ( c ) be intoxicated in or near any public place, including but not limited to any road street, lane, thoroughfare, square, park, market, shop, warehouse, or public garages.
    Paragraph ( d ) consume liquor in or on or near any public place, including a motor vehicle driven on a public road or parked in a public place.
    Municipal bylaws. PUBLIC OPEN SPACES BY-LAWS

    (e) behave in an indecent or offensive manner.
    (d) consume, brew, store or sell any alcoholic beverage;
    And follow through on their mandate to protect and serve the citizens of South Africa
