Roberts Avenue Traffic Calming Measure Petition

Roberts avenue is a long road crossing from Kensington all the way to Troyeville. There are three schools situated on this main road, namely Jeppe Girls High School, Jeppe Boys High School and Jeppe Preparatory school.

Because Roberts avenue services three schools, on a daily basis, there are hundreds of school kids in the area, going home and getting picked up. This road is a constant danger to these children, due to motorists driving at excessive speeds. In particular when it comes to Jeppe Preparatory School, there is a great danger to pupils, as the school is at the top section of a rise and there is no robot or speed bump to slow traffic down, immediately before reaching the school.

We the residents of this road and parents that have children attending Jeppe Preparatory school in this road, hereby petition the city of Johannesburg, that traffic calming measures must be installed on this road, in particular at corner Roberts Avenue and Collingwood Street, so that our children are safe from speeding motorists.
